3D ARTIST
'A Bug's Life'
This was a project I created last year.
I used Maya and ZBrush to create 3 insect models, which I then textured using a combination of Mari and Substance. I composited the renders within Nuke.
ABOUT
"I have a passion for turning creative ideas into a reality"
I am a passionate and enthusiastic 3D artist graduating from a three-year full-time intensive Visual Effects (VFX) degree course at Futureworks School of Media in Manchester.

I have skills in modelling, sculpting and match moving using industry standard software including Maya and ZBrush.

I am diligent and conscientious, always studying the smallest of details in high quality sculpts and models. I strive to replicate these in my own projects, as I believe this is what gives them life.

Through my study I have had the opportunity to work on projects that allow my creative ideas to shine through, regardless of how complex the process has been, to achieve a result I am happy with.

I am a quick learner and an avid social media follower of leading VFX Designers and Producers’ studying the nuances of their work to help me improve and learn.

In my last year of university, I completed a research module. For my project I looked into human anatomy and it's application in creating lifelike sculpts.

This was a huge undertaking, as there is a great deal of information out there.
However, by spending a few weeks looking into the anatomical structure of the human body, I learnt how to apply this information in my 3D work to make realistic lifeforms. Through this understanding of how the body is structured, I have found it far easier to design my own creatures. I feel like I know now where I can break the rules, whilst still achieving believable results.

This research came in useful when I was working on my honours project creating both a half human/half horse and a half human/half dog creature, based on the Netflix show "Bojack Horseman".

The knowledge I'd gained was especially useful when sculpting the hands and arms for my characters. I now knew how all of the muscles within these areas appear on the surface of the skin and how they interact with each other.
